Michael’s primary areas of practice include retirees and their families, business owners, small business retirement plans and families with individuals with special needs.
Michael develops customized strategies to address the complex needs of affluent families, corporate executives, successful business owners, as well as families with special needs. He works closely with other trusted advisors such as attorneys and accountants to ensure decisions are consistent with objectives of trust and estate plans as well as other tax planning strategies.
Working with a team of specialists, Michael provides a broad range of services. These include retirement planning, portfolio management, stock option analysis, life insurance, a full complement of wealth preservation and wealth transfer services, business succession planning and company sponsored retirement plans such as SEPs, SIMPLEs and 401(k) plans.
Michael provides these services to a select number of clients. His relationships with clients are long term, often working with multiple family generations.
Michael holds both the Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC®) and the Behavioral Financial Advisor (BFA™) designations.
Prior to joining LPL Financial in 2011, Michael worked as a financial advisor with Merrill Lynch for many years. He earned his Bachelor’s degrees in Physics and Astronomy, with a minor in mathematics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Master of Science degree in Astronomy from Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne, Australia.
Michael has served on committees for SEDOM (the Special Education District of McHenry County) and on the Boards of Directors of Turning Point, a domestic violence shelter for women and children, GiGi’s Playhouse Down Syndrome Awareness Centers and Crystal Lake Crime Stoppers. He also regularly volunteers with the McHenry County Habitat for Humanity, the McHenry County Conservation District (MCCD) and other local charitable organizations.
Michael has three young-adult children, including a son with Down syndrome.
